Rommy Ferreira’s passion for the game began on the futsal courts of Brazil, where his love for soccer was shaped from a young age. By just 17 years old, Rommy had already graduated from the prestigious Sport Club Recife Futsal Academy, launching a professional playing career that would take him across five different countries — Brazil, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Russia.

 

Over 16 years as a professional futsal player, Rommy competed at the highest levels of the sport, gaining invaluable experience in elite training environments known for producing technically gifted, intelligent, and creative players.

 

After a knee injury brought his playing career to a close, Rommy channeled his passion into coaching — and the results have been exceptional.

 

In 2008, Rommy moved to the United States, beginning his coaching journey in New York City before becoming Futsal Director at the elite Everson Futsal Academy in Connecticut. There, he spent nearly a decade developing high-level youth players through futsal-based technical training and modern player development principles.

In 2017, Rommy continued his mission in Boca Raton, Florida, joining Joga Bonito Futsal Academy, where he further refined his approach to building confident, technically sound, and intelligent players.

 

Today, Rommy serves as the Director of Futsal for the Colorado Rapids (MLS), bringing world-class methodology to one of Major League Soccer’s top organizations.

 

His credentials speak for themselves:

• CONMEBOL A License (Professional Futsal)

• UEFA B License (Football)

• US Soccer C License

• Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science – University of Connecticut

• 16-year Professional Futsal Career

• International playing experience in 5 countries

 

But beyond the accolades, Rommy is a coach who connects with players. His sessions are known for their intensity, clarity, and focus on ball mastery, technical excellence, and individual player development — the same qualities that made him successful as a professional.

 

Off the field, Rommy is a proud husband to his wife Bridget and the father of their young son, McKinnon James. He’s also kept busy by their energetic (and slightly crazy) pup, Benny.
